New England States Facing Similar Age Trends

May 30, 2008

Greetings New England State Presidents,

The e-mail message linked here, "Real Estate Market Trends," is one of our monthly newsletters and is authored by Peter Francese, a noted demographer who resides in Exeter, New Hampshire. Peter has been a consultant to NHAR for over three years, and in addition to his monthly column, he provides advisory to our committees and board, and presents an approved credit-hour course at our annual convention.

Most recently, Peter spearheaded the Communities and Consequences project in New Hampshire, bringing to light many of the issues surrounding the exodus of young people in our state due to adverse local planning board decisions.

I found this month’s column particularly relevant to all of New England, much of which seems to be experiencing a similar aging trend to that of New Hampshire. I am hopeful you will find this interesting, and I encourage you to share it with your members as you see fit. If redistributed, I only ask that you do so in its entirety, without edits, and include attribution to Peter.

Best wishes to all,

Jim Lyons, REALTOR®
2008 President, NHAR
