The following is a summary of the reports provided and actions taken at the November 12, 2008 New Hampshire Association of REALTORS® Executive Committee meeting.  Please feel free to contact Paul Griffin, EVP, with any comments. 

Secretary’s Report – Paul Griffin


  • It was MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to approve the agenda as received.
  • It was MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to approve the minutes of October 15, 2008, as received.

 

President’s Report – Jim Lyons


Jim gave some highlights from the NAR Convention, including attendance at the Inaugural program where Bonnie was installed. At the General Session Mary Beth Rudolph was honored as our REALTOR® of the Year. The NHAR Night Out was held at Universal Studios. The NERC Luncheon Meeting was reviewed; Patty Lawton from Maine will be the 2010 RVP. Focus at the meetings included the economy and a four point legislative plan, a stimulus plan for commercial, a work force housing grant program, constitutional amendments, adding six outside members as directors, policy changes, the Credit Union to be launched in mid 2009, and meeting the RPAC goal. Jim thanked those that attended and thanked the staff for their support.

 

Executive Vice President’s Report – Paul Griffin


  • Paul gave some upcoming dates: Leadership Conference December 4th in Concord at Holiday Inn. December 12th is the Public Policy Retreat at the Holiday Inn. December 17th will be the Joint Executive Committee Meeting, followed by the Board of Directors. November 27th and 28th will be closed for Thanksgiving. The NERC Conference will be held in Portsmouth at the Sheraton on March 10th and 11th (sponsorships are available).
  • There were many meetings at the convention attended by membership and staff. The Magel Award was presented to Rob Authier at the Board of Directors meeting.

 

President-Elect’s Report – Paul Sargeant


  • Paul was not present to report.
  • Dave Liberatore was then introduced. It was MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to recommend that the New Hampshire REALTORS® Housing foundation be formed, based on the concept and structure of the Maine REALTORS® Affordable Housing Fund.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Tom Riley


The October 2008 financial reports were reviewed, subject to audit.
The October 2008 membership report was given.

 

Committee Reports – Jim Lyons


Communications – Rick Ruo

  • Rick reported that the committee is focused on the web site launch and the creation of a blog.
  • It was noted that Peter Francese is being negotiated with for his assistance next year.
  • Meeting efficiency continues to be looked at.
  • The Speakers Bureau is ongoing.
  • Dave Cummings gave a quick update on the communications information he found at the NAR Convention.

Legal – Mary Beth Rudolph

  • Monika McGillicuddy gave an update on Professional Standards, noting the changes to Article 12 relative to domain names, URLs, etc. A change to Article 1 was read, noting “if asked” was added.
  • Mary Beth noted that she and Diana had attended the Mediation program. Mary Beth also reported on the new VOW policy to be adopted by the MLS’s.
  • Designated Agency update. The REC held their instructor program; they are also updating their agency disclosure form for approval on Tuesday. A meeting was held here for the trainers that had agreed to assist with Designated Agency training. More guidance is necessary; to meet again tomorrow afternoon. It appears that a more extensive program is required for the roll out.
  • An ethics complaint is going forward for a hearing. Professional Standards is preparing the workshop program for February.
  • It was MOVED and VOTED to recommend acceptance of the Ombudsmen Procedures Proposal, as presented. A mediation/ombudsman program will be presented on December 18th as the first training session.
  • An Interim Report by the Forms Working Group was presented. In addition, it was noted that the short sale addendum was in process, as well as a lease agreement or lease addendum.

Professional Development – Monika McGillicuddy

  • Monika reported that their committee met last month; they are putting together educational programs for 2009. In addition, they are looking at the 2009 Convention planning.
  • Professional Development will be meeting this afternoon. They will be walking through the blogging process.
  • GRI 108 is scheduled for next week.
  • A brief report on what was picked up at the NAR Convention was given by both Monika and Jan.
  • Another meeting will be held tomorrow morning for the educational instructors.

Public Policy – J. Keeler

  • Jeff reported a great turnout for voting this year. Results and ratios in the House and Senate were noted. All three state branches of government are now controlled by one party. Seventeen of the twenty-one RPAC candidates were successful. He noted that Jim DeStefano has completed his NHAR representation on the Lead Study Commission. The Public Policy Retreat preliminary agenda and presenters were noted. Jeff will be attending a program at the Greater Manchester/Nashua Board with a legislative update.
  • A broker initiative relative to Calls to Action was noted by Bonnie Guevin. The suggestion was made that a broker/owner email list be made available.

 

Member Liaison Reports


  • Maureen DeKoning was not present to report on the Contoocook Valley, Greater Claremont, and Monadnock Region Boards.
  • Alan DeStefano reported on the Greater Manchester/Nashua, Lakes Region, NH CIBOR and Upper Valley Boards.
  • Barbara Dumont reported on the Concord, North Country, and Sunapee Region Boards.
  • Ann Kelley reported on the Granite State South, Seacoast, Strafford County, and White Mountain Boards.
