The following is a summary of the reports provided and actions taken at the October 15, 2008 New Hampshire Association of REALTORS® Executive Committee meeting.  Please feel free to contact Paul Griffin, EVP, with any comments.

Secretary’s Report – Paul Griffin


  • It was MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to approve the agenda as received.
  • It was MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to approve the minutes of September 10, 2008, as received.

 

President’s Report – Jim Lyons


  • Jim thanked everyone for their participation in the budget process and also for the gift.
  • An Advisory Task Force has been named to search for a new Government Affairs Director. Initial sorting of 60 applications has begun. The process was reviewed.
  • President Lyons will be meeting with Governor Lynch tomorrow; a positive message on housing with the Governor as the spokesman will be the topic. Housing statistics have been prepared for this meeting and were briefly reviewed.
  • It was noted that Jim was a guest on Fred Kocher’s program; continued publicity is good for the REALTOR® image.
  • A quick update on ISoldMyHouse.com was given.

 

Executive Vice President’s Report – Paul Griffin


  • Paul gave some dates for the calendar: NAR Conference will start on Wednesday, Nov. 5 and concludes on Nov. 10. The Welcome Reception will be held on Nov. 5. Nov. 6 will be an inaugural celebration. Nov. 8 will be a special night out in Universal Studios. The next Executive Committee meeting is Nov. 12. The Leadership Conference is scheduled for Dec. 4 at the Holiday Inn. A NERC Leadership Spokesperson Training will be held Dec. 10-11 to be attended by Paul Sargeant, Monika McGillicuddy and Bonnie Guevin. The joint Executive and Board of Directors meeting will be held on Dec. 17.
  • Paul noted that 35 of the 60 candidates for the Governmental Affairs Director are from New Hampshire.

 

President-Elect’s Report – Paul Sargeant


  • Paul reported that the Housing Task Force, chaired by Dave Liberatore, met last week and will be presenting their report to the Executive Committee at some future meeting.
  • Paul thanked everyone for their attendance and participation at the Convention and his installation.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Tom Riley


  • The September 2008 financial reports were reviewed, subject to audit.
  • The September 2008 membership report was given.
  • Rich Whitney is heading up an employee health benefits review.

 

Committee Reports – Jim Lyons


Communications – Rick Ruo

  • Rick reported that they met yesterday.
  • A concern for keeping Peter Francese as a participant for 2009 was noted.
  • The web site is moving along; release expected sometime in December.
  • Web meetings are being looked at; limited due to the loss in revenue.
  • The Speakers Bureau is meeting and being reformulated.
  • Rick thanked Dave Cummings for agreeing to stand in for him at the national convention.

Legal – Mary Beth Rudolph

  • Mary Beth was unable to attend. Diana reported that the next Legal Committee meeting was scheduled for October 22nd. The Forms Working Group is nearing completion of updating the standard forms. An Ombudsman Training Program is being scheduled for Dec. 18.
  • The Designated Agency Train the Trainer Session will be held on Oct. 30.
  • Barbara Dumont gave a recap of the Mediation Training program that was held.

Professional Development – Monika McGillicuddy

  • Monika reported that they would be meeting this afternoon.
  • 25 students attended GRI 107. NH Reps has been scheduled in-house; currently only 9 people signed up for the remainder of this year. GRI 108 has 12 people signed up.
  • Today’s meeting will review the GRI evaluations and discuss the Designated Agency Train the Trainer program.
  • The Convention had a far better turnout than expected. Initially feedback has been positive. There was concern with the turnout on the political candidates. Overall financially, as of yesterday, a net of $10,000 appears likely.

Public Policy – Jeff Keeler

  • Jeff noted that they are looking to schedule a Retreat on December 12th at the State House, if available. Speakers are being looked at.
  • Issues on the horizon include land use and a lead paint study proposals. Another issue is an auctioneers’ bill with a chapter study.

 

Member Liaison Reports


  • Maureen DeKoning reported on the Contoocook Valley, Greater Claremont, and Monadnock Region Boards.
  • Alan DeStefano reported on the Greater Manchester/Nashua, Lakes Region, NH CIBOR and Upper Valley Boards.
  • Barbara Dumont reported on the Concord, North Country, and Sunapee Region Boards.
  • Ann Kelley reported on the Granite State South, Seacoast, Strafford County, and White Mountain Boards.

 

Executive Session


  • It was MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to go into Executive Session at 10:45 a.m.
  • It was MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to go out of Executive Session at 11:23 a.m.
  • It was MOVED, SECONDED and VOTED to ratify the decision of the Leadership Team in Executive Session.
