Our priority is people, our focus is real estate
Mark S. Goldin, 59, of Swanzey died on Wednesday morning, March 25, at home in familiar surroundings after a period of failing health. He passed with the love and devotion of his wife, Lois, and son, Jake, at his side.
Mark was born on April 17, 1949 in the Bronx, NY. He was the son of Ned and Eleanor (Goldmitz) Goldin. Mark was educated locally in the Bronx and Queens. He graduated from Martin Van Buren High School in Queens, NY. After high school, Mark continued in his education at Queens College also in Queens, NY.
He moved to the Cheshire County area in 1970. He became acquainted with and later married his love, Lois. They made Swanzey their home in 1986 and they were married on December 1, 1987. It was a simple ceremony with friends and family at Maplelawn in Nelson. They have been married for 21 years.
In 1987, Mark became a real estate broker and was gainfully employed by RE/MAX Town and Country in Keene for 20 years. As a broker he became involved with the Monadnock Region Board of REALTORS®. He wore many hats while being involved. In 2000, he was the President of the Board. He was also REALTOR® of the Year in 2001.
Mark was actively involved for many years as the Chair of Communications and Public Relations, Chair of Procedural Manual, Chair of RPAC (Governmental Affairs), Chair, Mediation Officer, Chair of Professional Standards and the Public Policy Person (RPAC). He was also involved with various State Committees. He will be missed by his professional colleagues for his abilities and willingness to assist in all areas of real estate.
Fishing and golf were avenues for Mark to relax and unwind. He also enjoyed playing poker and was a diehard NY Yankees fan. He loved to watch the classic Laurel and Hardy Shows.
Mark had a unique sense of humor and was one who could laugh at himself. Mark’s greatest joy was being on the sidelines or in the bleachers cheering for his son, Jake, and the various teams he was on. Mark was a great friend and confidant to many, and a loving and devoted husband and father. He shared a unique relationship with his family and bantered with his mother in-law, Marion Lougee, when the Red Sox and Yankees would play.
Mr. Goldin is survived by his wife, Lois, and his son, Jake, of Swanzey; his father, Ned Goldin, of Queens, NY; his sister Sandra Zaccagnino and her husband Mike of Narrowsburg, NY; his Aunt Bernice Aptaker and her husband Jerry of Staten Island, NY. Mark also leaves Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Goldin, in 1996 and his father, Stanley Kaplan, in 1956.
There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in Mark Goldin's name to the Monadnock Region Board of REALTORS® Fix-A-Home Project, c/o Connie Curtis at Coldwell Banker Tattersall & Associates, 391 West Street, Keene, NH 03431.
