Leadership Training Opportunities

NHAR offers a series of training programs throughout the course of the year to assist local associations in developing their current and future volunteer leaders. Additionally, NHAR and NAR conduct annual orientation programs for association executives and volunteer leaders. The following describes the available programs:

LEADER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

NHAR Leadership Symposium

This is an intensive two-day leadership skills program that provides participants with a clear and straightforward summary of the essential information needed for leaders to perform effectively in this complex and challenging role. This program is an easily accessible resource for volunteers who have never received leadership training, as well as an outstanding refresher for those with previous leadership training.

The symposium is offered by NHAR at the White Mountain Hotel facility, usually held in April. Because this program is subsidized by NHAR, the individual fee, which includes two nights lodging and six meals is only $300. This program has been developed and is presented by Roger Turcotte who provides leadership training to REALTOR® associations nationally. Spaces are allocated for two participants from each Local Board and one State leader; registration sheets are forwarded to the AEs at each Board at the beginning of each year.

REALTOR® Leader Program

Each of the following courses is a three-hour program offered in New Hampshire by NHAR in conjunction with NAR. An NAR trained facilitator, currently Roger Turcotte, presents these courses which are available to a limited number of participants. Dates are determined based on instructor and room availability. There is an $89 fee for each course.

The RLP prepares REALTORS® for association volunteerism and focuses on key leadership skills and association management topics that are necessary for effective leadership.

Leadership 200: Becoming a Leader

This intermediate-level course is designed to help volunteer leaders understand the benefits of leadership development, the role of leaders in REALTOR® associations, how to develop strategic planning skills, manage risk and gain confidence in their role as leaders.

Leadership 300: Enhancing Leadership Skills

This advanced course builds on the topics covered in the Leadership 200 course and is designed for leaders who are interested in advancing their skills. Through group activities and case study analysis, the workshop develops decision making and conflict resolution skills.

ANNUAL LEADERSHIP ORIENTATION PROGRAMS

NHAR Leadership Conference

This annual one day event, usually held in early December at various locations throughout the state, is hosted by the incoming NHAR president. This event brings local and state leaders, as well as association executives, together to discuss efficient and effective ways to address the challenges that the state and local association leaders will be facing in the coming year.

Attendees consist of REALTORS® who will be serving on the NHAR Board of Directors, as well as any additional Local Board Presidents, President-Elects and Association Executives.

NAR Leadership Summit

This two-day program, presented by NAR, is held in Chicago in August. This is available only to the Local and State Associations’ incoming Presidents and their AEs. NAR covers the cost of the room and the program; travel and incidentals are at the expense of the individual Boards.
