George M. Daniels, 65, of 4 Circle Drive in Tilton, died Friday, October 23, 2009 at Concord Hospital following a period of failing health.
He was born in Franklin, December 17, 1943, son of the late George C. and Pauline R. (Harper) Daniels. George was a lifelong resident of Tilton and 1962 graduate of the Tilton-Northfield High School.
He owned and operated Lakes Region Artesian Wells in Tilton for over 25 years. He later became a Deputy Sheriff for the County of Belknap, retiring in 2008. George was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of the VFW, Post 1698 in Franklin and American Legion Post 49 in Northfield.
He was a former member of the Tilton Budget Committee and for several years served as a part time police officer in Tilton. George was a member of the NRA and was a New Hampshire Hunter Safety Instructor. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed boating, four-wheeling, and was a member of the North Country ATV Club.
His family includes his wife of 42 years, M. Linda (Pouliot) Daniels of Tilton; a daughter Michele M. and her husband Victor Engel of Concord; a son Douglas G. Daniels of Loudon; five grandchildren; a brother Gary P. Daniels of Tilton; and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 D. W. Highway, in Boscawen.
